A finding aid is a discovery tool that provides researchers with contextual and structural information about a specific collection of archival materials or even individual items. Finding aids may be in the form of inventories, folder and container lists, indexes, guides, and catalog records. Finding aids may include descriptions of the collection or object, size and volume, relevant dates, administrative histories or biographical notes, provenance, scope, organization and arrangement, and subjects/keywords.
