Citing an archival primary source document varies depending on which citation style you are using. Most require you to know the creator or author of the document, the document’s title and date, the collection the document is part of, the folder number and box number the document is stored in, and the name of the archival repository.

The three most common citation styles are:

MLA Citation Style, Purdue OWL

Chicago Manual of Style
